Weird clutch pedal?

Ever since ive had my car ive had about 1inch of free play in the clutch pedal,today i picked the car up after a few weeks away and have noticed that while sitting in traffic the clutch pedal will sink about half way down making it very hard to select gears.Once a gear has been selected and the car gets underway the play from the pedal dissapears and normal service with the clutch resumes.Any ideas any one?.Mark

air in the system? check the clutch fluid or have it checked?

Its because the pressure line runs close to the exhaust and the fluid gets very hot. You need to use 5.1 or higher, or re route the bressure line.

Its a common problem, but when it coold you should have a normal pedal

I wouldn't worry - my clutch feels a bit different every day

Clutch fluid is ok it hasnt moved.Just got back in to the car pedal is normal,and the car selects any gear i want with the engine running.Whats different with comma 5.1 compared to other brake fluid?
