Sqealing Discs

Just had all discs re-skimmed, got Green pads, I've been told that they will need bedding in, how many miles? I've just done about 80, the sqeal is embarrasing, when I come up to set of lights or roundabout the noise is unbearable, any suggestions what to do !!!

I would suggest using the search function first.

They aren't pads I'd recommend for ordinary road use, but since you have them they will need to be bedded in. Driving around gently won't do any good, you need to follow the instructions which came with the pads, which usually involves making several hard applications. This probably won't affect the brake squeal though; I think that's a separate issue.

I am not trying to be funny but do as E3D said, use the search function. This thread comes up almost on a weekly basis. There is a link to an external website where some brake specialist type chap tells you how to bed them in. I did it on my Volvo a month ago and it worked a treat.

The only cure I ever found that worked was new discs

I had ebc green pads in my old cerbera,never got rid of the sqealing.
Sounded like a london bus

I had new pads all round and the breaks were squealing like made. Took a look at some other posts and found one about gasket sealant, works a treat! I picked it up at a local car shop and will be good for 230 degrees. Put a small coating on the back of pads and smooth it out, so its even all over and no more squealing break problems.

well ive truely brought this back!
ive found out from a TVR specialist that the ebc pads always squeel its the AP racing pads that stop the squeeling.

I have greenstuff and they don't squeal.

Copper slip and correctly fitting anti vibration plates are the way forward.

Just to let you know that the squeling has decayed slightly, think I'm on the mend, Cheers, Chris.

What anti vibration plates my 4.5 only has springs, my greenstuff pads are 2k old and stuck in with hi temp sealant (to stop them rattling)and they SQUEAL.

Fernhurst always told me that there wasn't room to fit the shims? The only way I got rid of the squeals was to fit some cross drilled discs on the back (new standard disks may have worked) but as as I never tracked were find for me (plus they looked nicer )
