does anyone know where i can buy an ecu lead

You have to make it yourself.

I'll dig out the details. It cost me £30 including the soldering iron!

No, a standard null RS232 serial cable (9 pin to 9 pin) will work.

Go and speak nicely with your IT department and see if you can grab the lead off an old modem.

I think the serial 9 pin Belkin extension cable (male to female) will work too, about a tenner from PC world I think.

you can buy one from pc world.

Pc world and then file down the connectors on one end to fit the ecu.

No need to file the connectors! A bog standard standard 9 pin Serial cable from PC world is all you need (Male one end Female the other)
