cerb or type r

been out for the day over to the welsh coast, had a great day, cerb behaved itself
i gave it plenty of stick in the morning, and had a real good blast
coming back this evening however, there was a lot of cars on the road, but that didnt stop me, i overtook everything in my way, after some time i looked in my mirror and saw this honda type r thingy and realised that this car had been there the last time i looked and the time before
now usually i dont look in my mirror when overtaking, but i had to, to see what this thing went like
so doing about 50 i dropped it into third and gave it half throttle and looked in my mirror and this car stayed with me
next time i went i dropped it into second and floored it right up to 7500 revs and i made about 20 foot on this thing
this went on for about 50 miles before we came to a set of lights and we stopped with him still behind my
i looked in my mirror and this bloke and his bird were sittin laughin at the bemused me, my face must have been a picture
im totally gutted, it must be time to supercharge it or somethin
and it wasnt blue it was silver

The difference between a hot hatch (I guess it was a Civic Type-R) & the Cerb is you can give a hot hatch 100% on the open road & rag the 80110x off it fairly safely. A Cerb you have to respect a lot more & treat more carefully.
I'm quite sure down my favourite stretch B road, my Mk1 Golf would trounce my time in the Cerbera (never actually timed it), but the Cerb is far more rewarding to get it right !
And at the end of the day a Civic is Civic. A Cerbera is on of the best looking cars on the planet (especially Green 4.2's
) & sounds SOOOOOO much better than a rev happy 4 pot....

i sell type r's for a living! No way could one keep uop in any gear!!! except off the line in the wet!!! either theres something wrong with you cerb or i do know of a couple of supercharged type r's kincking out over 450bhp................

my second car is a jaguar xjr supercharged and the cerb leaves it standin, i got the feelin he could have passed me at any time,
wont race honda civics again ha ha

In all fairness there are plenty of supercharged Type R's knocking around. 3K gets you a conversion and enough grunt to embarass most cars out there.
A few more mods and they start trouncing these other cars.
But then the same goes for other cars if you supercharge them and spend money on mods. I know a lad who has a 350bhp Civic with a 100 shot of NOS. There isn't too many cars out there that want to try it with him more than once.
When I had the Civic I once got trounced by a Nissan Micra with 1.2 on the back!.
I do love Cerb's a lot though but would ultimately like a Sagaris.

I don't think there is any argument in the gulf in terms of performance between the cars. Its a bit like comparing a Cerb to a very fast bike in terms of performance.
The Civic Type R was probably supercharged as many of them are and would hence have the grunt to keep up with the Cerb but even so I would take the Cerb everytime!

aint never had anythin keep up with me before so it came as a bit of a shock, still, i might invest in some sports exhausts so that it never happens again lol

ok mr swallocks ive got some exhausts,used to be on the cerb i owned for a day but the bloke i bought it of took them of as he said it was to loud(silly man)any way was going to put them on e bay as my new one has them on already,the one has a dent in it where it must have hit the road and the other a few scrapes,these are obviously on the underside so you cant see it.spent half a hour with some autosol and cleaned one up,open to a offer if they are any good to you,thanks daz

I used to own a "CTR" (As the Civic-pilots like to call Type-Rs), which I chopped in against my Chim 500.
Now, I know from personal experience, a standard CTR (driven by me) would not keep pace with a 5-ltr Chim in a staight line, let alone a Cerb.
Even fairly radical modding to a CTR (no forced induction trickery) will only result in about 240bhp max, at about 9000rpm. With pretty pathetic torque - only about 170lbft.
But, there are quite a few CTRs about these days with Superchargers and/or NOS, which are putting out about 280-350bhp, which make them pretty rapid. Even so such a CTR, weighs about 1350kg (heavier than a Cerb), is RWD (the wrong wheels to put down the power) and has no traction control (much like a Cerb). I am pretty confident that a good 4.2 or 4.5 Cerb (especially a lightweight) should comfortably leave a CTR behind.
