Now It Is Really Getting On My Nerves

Hiya folks,

I have been having major alarm problems. The first thing to happen was the alarm going off every time I tried to lock the car, my solution was to leave it unlocked. The next problem took a while to diagnose and I finally tracked down the whistling (which we all thought was the neighbours buying a Minah bird, I kid you not) to the alarm of the now unlocked car. At completely random intervals it 'whistles' as the alarm does the first part of the noise ie high-low-high, a bit like a wolf-whistle in reverse. Not having time to fix it I disconnected the battery and it has been in that state for about 2 weeks.

Yesterday I reconnected the battery and synchronised the key fob. It seemed ok so I started the engine and had a bit of a drive around. Within a few minutes the same whistling started, albeit more frequently, even with the engine running. Once the engine was switched off this whistling continued randomly, the alarm would go off when I tried to lock the car so my only option was to disconnect the battery again.

All proximity switches work ok, doors open and close etc so does anybody have any ideas at all please. Best I get it to HHC for it's 'Minah' service

I had nearly all the symptoms that you list, plus more. I had a new siren fitted and everything was back to normal. They deteriorate over the years due to their position on the vehicle.

It is often the connection to the back of the siren - certainly was frequent issue for Chimps - the solution was to cut the female flug of and hard wire the siren. I think!

It is a fault on the siren! For a quick fix, you can unplug the siren at the alarm control box!
Remove the helmet holder or sub woofer, and the alarm control unit is staring at you with a few plugs going into it! The plug you should remove has 4 small wires going into it! Unplug and try arming the car! If it cures it, you can replace the siren at a later date

Cheers Lee, top tip. Will have a go in the not-too-distant-future when the burns I sustained today have subsided a little. (the bloke/bonfire/petrol scenario, A&E, arm in bandage, face and arms blistered, lucky so-and-so)

Sorry i didnt think, anyone could read this forum!
But then, how many people know how to open a door of a cerb never mind know what a helmet holder is!
Lets be fair, im a heavy sleeper. but if someone started my beast up in the middle of the night, all the street would wake up! haha
