Replacing oil cooler feed pipe
Discussion
I need to replace the feed pipe, or is it the return pipe? The longer one that goes under the engine.
Are there any hidden problems i'm likely to face?
Obviously i'll need to drain the oil from the engine, but what about when it comes to refilling the oil, will i need to prime the oil pump or anything like that?
And what about getting a replacement?
I've contacted www.abbeyhose.co.uk/ who say it should be no problem making one up, but they've not seen it yet. Dealers say there is a long wait for parts.
And is the best way to remove the pipe from the cooler through the hatch in the wheel arch?

Strange world isn't it...I'm doing the same job on mine, but it's got a busted cooler...
1) Remove air box, pipes etc
2) Remove top hose on rad
3) Remove f1 panel
4) remove rad nuts and a/c fan (the one on the passenger side)
5) remove the bottom hose (a bit of a sod, just cut it if necessary, it's a straight, hose standard size)
6) remove rad
7) remove air con rad
8) three bolts secure oil cooler, remove them
9) remove the pipes attached to the oil cooler, if too difficult, remove them from the engine and pull them through
10) Remove the inspection square from the passenger side wheel arch
11) pull the hoses through the bulkhead.
Simple, but the nuts on the hoses attaching to the cooler may not come off, that's why I had to disconnect the return from the engine and pull the hose through.
Hope this helps

Alternatively leave the old cooler in situ and fit a new cooler just inside the engine bay, hey presto an hour or so later and it's job done.
