Problems with windows and doors

Hello everybody, this is my first time on the site a friend of mine with a 4.2 told me to post my problem to see if anyone can help.

When i go to the car press the alarm the indicators flash. I press the door opening button on drivers side, the window goes down and the door pops open, great. The passenger side however the door just opens with the window up, bummer. When I have started the engine the windows go up on both sides, but after this the windows dont work at all, until I open the drivers door but the problem is that the window is up. The way I have been getting around this propblem at the moment is to start the car up with the drivers door open, waiting to hear the sensor on the door lock to click then I press the door release so that I am able to lower the windows to open the passenger door and drivers door then I am able to close the doors. After this painstaking ordeal and not looking very cool at all the windows seem to work perfectly until next time. If anyone has had this kind of problem please help.

Try unplugging your window black box in the boot, leave it un plugged for a few mins then plug it back in again, you may find that the problem goes away! Other things worth looking at if this dosent work are the connectors in the doors can corode or even dodgy limit switches (if you have them) again in the doors! Hope it helps.

Thanks for your advice. However I have unplugged the black box and took apart the connections in both doors and cleaned them up about two weeks ago but to not avail. One thing I did just find out was that if I take the fuse out for the alarm and door control and plug it back in the pasenger door works perfectly but it only does it once then continues to open with the window up.

Could be the limit switches in the doors, they basically tell the control box that the window is low enough for the door to open, if it is rusty or incorrectly adjusted then the door will open with the window shut (note that they were not fitted to earlier cars). BUT you say that it works once after pulling the fuse then putting it back, it sounds like a faulty control unit to me. If it works once then this kinda proves that all of the external bits are OK (connections etc), sound like the micro is crashing (i think they use pic chips), can you borrow a control from your mates car to see if it is faulty?

Thanks, thats a good idea I will have to ask him round for a beer and ask to borrow his box, like you say that should show whether my box is faulty or not. will let you know how I get on. Cheers once again.
