Cerbera Ice/Radio connections

So whilst I had the radio out to fix the lighter socket I had a look at the radio, which I already knew wasn't wired in.

The standard Cerbera plug doesn't look like any standard I've seen before - it's all rounded pins.

Is there an adapter that's easily purchased to convert it to modern ICE/radio connections? Is this connector robbed from another car? Am I better off going to a specialist?

OK Quick update. The correct adapter to use is one for a Land Rover defender 8/79+ and Land Rover Discovery 11/89 to 3/94. I got mine from sextons for £12 and it's really easy to remove the centre plastic locking device and pull the pins out to put them in the correct place.

As said this needs modifying as the leads are not in the correct order and small platic bits just need nibbling from it to make it fit. It's quite obvious where.

For the record there are two rows of six pins divided into sets of three. On my cerbera these were

RED Green Grey Grey/Black Green Green/black
Battery Ign Spk FR+ Spk FR- Spk FL+ Spk FL-


Red/White Black Green/black Green/Red Grey/Red Grey/Black
Illum Earth Spk RL- Spk RL+ Spk RR+ Spk RR-



Aerial reception is poor as mentioned but I'll try for the fm boot aerial mod another day as suggested on another thread.

You can spot my cigar lighter socket mod also. It's got a chromed plastic ring around it to stop it falling through the dash when I plug in the sat nav.

Look's nice Dave. As it happens I noticed my Frnt left speaker isnt working, so your wiring 'map' will comme in handy, thats my job for the day. (and I'll pop the boot open before I start messing about with electrics
Even with a decent head unit I couldnt achieve a decent sound in that car, but my new one sounds fantastic with the identical head unit, all that is diffeernt is that the front speakers have been upgraded. When I have it apart later on, I'll see what speakers they are and post it on here.

Top Secret, only Cerb Owners know that - you'll just have to get one

PS - By the way the Dave the speakers are MB Quartz's, with separate tweeters wired through 2 crossover switches - No I dont know what I'm talking about either, but thats what I found !

Cheers Alan. A Speaker upgrade is next I think, but not until I've got the AirCon blowing cold. At the moment I'm driving with the windows open, which rather negates the stereo.

When the A/C was re gassed they did put the dye in - shows up in ultra violet light - so get that checkd rather than just put more gas in, or try adjusting the a/c thermostat (Up in the drivers footwell about knee hight. RH Side just, sort of where the top door hinge is)

Cheers Alan. Yup I'll get them to recheck it first rather than playing with the thermostat. They're no cold at all coming out rather than not cold enough.
