Booster Seats in the back

With the changes in the law, and kids under a certain height and age having to use booster seats, can anyone answer how well they fit in the rear of a Cerb? It needs to be a consideration before I buy one.

Has the law changed yet? I thought it was just a proposal????

If it has, then you could get one of those made from polystiring (how ever you spell it) Then cut and shape the back to fit the Cerb seats. This is what I did but my kids never really used it. (I still got it incase the law does change)

I've two kids, 3 and 7, its a bit of a pig fitting booster seats in the back of the GTO, they are 'bucket shaped' how easy is it gonna be in a Cerbera?

I raised this a couple of months ago - from memory the opinion was that they wouldnt be reqd in a cerb.

Is that the opinion of an individual(s) or does the law allow this?

I agree that there should be some exceptions where the fitting of a seat will make the child less safe.

Basically any child under 1.35m (4' 5" must use a booster seat. Taking a straw poll around my son's school this affected children upto the age of 10/11.

So - I feel a recovering of a booster seat coming in. Anyone know where I can get light tan leather from?

Fairly easy. Find a second-hand leather Recaro/TVR child seat, remove back-rest portion, and voila, an excellent booster seat.

It mounts on an additional tubular support off the transmission tunnel, on which is placed a flat (Aluminium?) plate, on which goes the booster seat itself.

The point with the perfectly shaped bucket seats is that they are no use to four year olds, if they get cut in half by the "lap" belt: Hence need for booster. Like everything else in Britain, we're not allowed to make this decision ourselves, however, Uncle Tony and his quangos have to do so.

My kids (now 7 and 4) have been fine in the back for ages. My 4 yr old (almost 5) is big for his age but has probably been fine for about a yr in the back , for the months between the booster seat and the set belt fitting properly , I used an adjustor to ensure the belt was ok round the neck area.

Mine likewise, although they're a year behind gazzab's kids. Never had any problems with that, although I grant you that an alternative to a seat belt scruncher (technical term ) would be some kind of foam pad on the seat.

I did similar again with my daughter from the age of 3 when the Recaro became to cramped for her (needed the base for my other daughter). Got a Saftey 1st adjust from Halfords (about £7.99) so she isn't strangled and place a towel under her to stop any sliding around. She seems happy as larry and sleeps merilly in there.

My intention is to keep doing as I am, the law is to protect those whose parents can't be bother or who think five kids in the back of the Fiesta is safe, even if stopped I think the police will use common sense with coupe owners.

It's going to be quite common problem, as the Cerbera is one of the few 2+2s with (almost) usable rear seats, getting a booster into the back of a 911 or something like a 206CC is never going to happen.
