Looking at some side photos of a Chimera and a Cerbera, the bodyshape looks incredilbe similar. Is a Cerbera a Chimera hardtop ?? Did they use the same platform and everything else to make the Cerbera ?? (I know engines changed,etc.) Sorry if it sounds daft but I'm a TVR virgin and thinking of getting one.

Also, did the first Cerberas (4.2 & 4.5) have the same V8's as the Chimera ?? then move onto the AJP V8 and then the Speed six ?? Just trying to work out if it might be better to get an early Cerbera if its got a pretty reliable V8 like the Chimera or just stick to the latest Chimera. Couldn't even think about running a Speed Six or the AJP version. What did they do to the AJP version to get so much power out of it ?? Was it a complete new engine or did they just heavily modifiy the existing V8 ??

Any advice appreciated.

Youre right, they are a very similar looking beast! But similar looking is where it ends, the Chimp has a different Interior, chassis,electrics and engine, its just the body that is similar. As for the engine the Chimp has the Rover V8 whereas the Cerb is designed for AJP (not R V8), the extra power comes from a totally different design in the AJP. The cerb was the first test bed for the Speed 6 so early ones have the very first S6's.

The bodies are similiar, but not identical by a long way. The Cerb has very different lines, particularly around the front and bonnet, and has a longer wheelbase
