anybody had an INDY reseal their diff as mine is leaking at the bottom of the casing where the back plate joins ???
is it a big deal or just a few hours labour as i don't fancy doing the job when its on axle stands looks a ramp job to
any other info about the diff is also welcome i did'nt notice where you top it up either??
only where you drain it

Fill point is on the side, looks like a big nut. A bit tricky to remove unless you have a garage as it requires - exhausts off, aluminium heat shield removed (needs to be rivetted back on), prop off, driveshafts off, then undo the 3 mounts and lower out kind of upside down and sideways. I didn't enjoy it, put it that way!!!!

An Indy near me charged £223.66 including VAT to change the front seal in August 2005. This was made up as follows:

Diff Oil seal £51 + vat
Diff Oil £25.35 + vat
3 Hrs Labour £114.00 +vat

are you sure it's leaking, they have a tendancy to spew oil from the breather if they are overfilled.

i could'nt really tell as i did'nt jack the car that high but the oil was at the bottom left area i could'nt really see the filler or the breather as i had tears in my eyes thinking it was a big expensive job
£250 is annoying but not to cheers guys
if i had a proper ramp i'd have ago myself

It's a pig of a job to do yourself, trust me I have been there and done it......twice (that'll teach me not to buy a second hand diff off a dodgy seller on PHeads).

First thing to do is to check how badly it is leaking, remember that the smallest leak can appear to be much worst than it actually is. If your level is dropping at a quick rate and you are having to top the oil up then it may be worth spending the £250 to get it done. If the car has been serviced recently then it may have had the oil topped up and sometimes this will vent off through a vent hole near the top of the diff, most diffs are over-filled slightly so this may be an explanation.

cheers i noticed it as there is a small patch on the garage floor which i assume happens when its been standing, leven is my nearest indy i might get them to check it out

I had the same problem ,and Simon will have a look for you, but, if it is not all that bad, eh a quick top up may be all it needs now and again, just messes up your nice driveway if you are not carefull.
