cerbera boot release
Discussion
Any idea's. I have trouble opening the boot. When you press the button, you hear the clicking of the solenoid but it will not release. This used to happen when the car was parked in the sun. More often than not it would open. Now it wont open at all. Had to use the "alternative method" to get in and fill her up.
Im sure there are threads on this if you use the search button. Its probably the rod that connects the solonoid to the lock mechanism (I think, Im not very good with this stuff). Austec fixed mine last year, but many have done it themselves I believe.

you could always drop a microwave on the boot to see if that frees it up a little.......

I will would like to correct my earlier statement. Someone cleverer than me will be along after that twonk SlvrCrb has made a stupid post

You'll need to peel back the carpet inside the boot to take a proper look, also pull out the interior light, the bottom of the latch is visible from there. The motor is located behind the badge and is connected to the latch with some wire. If you can here the motor cycling then it's a good bet the wire has either busted, become detached or the adjusting collar has come loose and needs adjusment.
When adjusting the mechanism, make sure that the motor actuator is pulled out to its fullest extent. Use a screwdriver in the latch to simulate the boot shutting. Adjust the collar on the wire so that it almost touches the actuating lever on the latch. Press the button and see if it unlatches OK. Close the latch once more and check that the motor actuator has been pulled out.
