Was "making good progress" yesterday when the o/s catch let go followed pretty quickly by the n/s. (cue some frantic movement out of the seat to try and see through the remaining 3 inches of windscreen) I stopped and found that when the bonnet was flapping around with the lock in the "on" position, it has snapped the end of the n/s rod. Looking at the quality of the rods I'm suprised they lasted that long anyway. So has anyone replaced theirs from the monkey metal ones used as standard? I'm thinking of knocking some up in stainless 303 but if there's a ready made solution I'm all ears. Cheers all.
mine snapped a couple of times after the bonnet was refitted after a respray. I eventually discovered that they snap if
a) they are too tight-this is easy to tell because the handle within the car will be very hard to turn to "lock" or
b)They are too loose and do not lock fully into the stainless steel plates.
It was a bugger to adjust with the internal bonnet section in place(you know the bit held by clips and allen keys in front) but if you take that off you can really easily see the locks and adjust it accordingly

A good way would be to stop the bonnet lifting in the first place. There have been a few threads about bonnet vents etc., but I'm not sure how people have got on. I plan to investigate this at some stage, but am waiting for my friend to finish his uber-garage so we can crack on with some projects.

last time I was under the car it was still there but it could have been ripped off by a speed bump in the last few weeks I suppose, leading to the increased pressure....
