Hi all, looking for some help choosing which coupe to go for, its a toss up between a 4.2 Cerbera or a Jag XKR. Having had great experience with both brands in the past it makes it a tough one. The Jag would appear not have tha realiabilty question mark over it and looks I think as good as a Cerbera but would be thirsty and it will have the unexiting auto box. The Cerbera however will have awesome performance, looks and will probably have a higher resale value but if I have engine probs which I know these cars are prone to if not looked after, It could become a very costly exercise.
I look forward to hearing your ideas.

Wouldn't worry too much about the engine. It's more the silly little things like starters and dodgy door locks that will bug you over the XK. Get the wrong engine in the XK and you could be inline for an equally expensive bill.
I did thik about an XK when I was musing other cars such as Mercs etc. However, I think the Cerb is either the car for you or it's not. If you want an experience when you drive then get the Cerb. If you want a wafting mode of transport that will get you there fast and in style get the XK (not that the Cerb doesn't do that).
Also I'd be less afraid of parking and XK on the street. Dunno why.

I think the solution is very simple, the Cerb 4.5 is the only one !! Dont' really have to justify why, it's just the best machine ever built, life is for living and this isan't a re-hersal, so get your head into the trader and start smiling !!! Cheers, Chris.
Indeed

After about 4 days of ownership, I thought the Cerb was not the car for me. I was WRONG!Lurkio said:

Your enthusiasm is to be respected, however you seem to disregard the smoother qualities of the 4.2, how many of these have you actualy driven?....none?
I also have similar hankerings to return to the Jaguar marque esp. when the Cerb is not as it should be, but after a little patience and self reasoning the Cerb gets the vote every time, I just completed 3000k of truoble free motoring bliss in 37 deg heat around the Soth of France, only to be let down by a bloody big pot hole. nothing can match the looks, sound and performance of the Cerbera, in 4.2 or 4.5 guise. There is very little between them in standard form, usualy the 4.2 is better in this form, smoother and faster reving. Only after remaps and mods do you start to achieve benefits from a 4.5, and then you get into a totaly different world of hurt and pain with squeezing every last drop of gain from an already tremendous engine and falling into the 'my c*ck is bigger than yours' scenario.
But as others have stated go with your heart, not your head, now is a good time to get into Cerbs as the market is definatly one for the buyer, get a good indie history but mostly speak to the owner and make an assumption of his knowledge and understanding of the brand and model, the rest should be sheer bliss.
Good Luck,
Cooky
