Another clutch question
Discussion
Got in the car today and the clutch pedal went half way and then had some resistance.
Wont go into gear with engine on.
Fluid level high and clean with no bits in it.
From doing a search i am even more confused as there are lots of conflicting theories. From slave to master to flushing out system.
I thought i would put my exact scenario up and get some feedback.
Thanks in advance.

I dont know much about faulty master's and what symptoms you get with them.
I cant see how the Slave could cause this problem either, unless there is air in there.
There is also the possibility that maybe a finger has dropped off and instead of falling clear of the clutch has got cought up inside it preventing you from pushing the pedal all way down.
Try bleeding the clutch first, just incase you've had a leak and there is air in the slave.

I've just had a very similar problem to yours. I was pressing the pedal down and there was resistance halfway down. Try again and the pedal would go down ok, but still had problems engaging gears etc.
My fluid was right up in the master but was dirty. I bled the system thoroughly, to get the air out and get clean fluid in.
All worked fine afterwards, so I recommend a good bleed first. As Mark says there could be air in the slave?

Is bleeding the system something i can do before sending it to Offords and if so how is it done.
Also if there is air inside does that mean i have a problem.......i.e. how did it get there.
Thanks in advance

I can only speak from my recent experience, but my clutch is now working fine. As Blue Thunder says the master seals may be perishing, but for the time being my clutch is working better than ever.
To bleed: Remove the top engine cover cowling, remove the plastic cover on the inner wing (next to the o/s air box on the inner wing, usually covered in sealant). This will reveal the master cylinder. The bleed nipple is on the end of a braided hose which protrudes on the o/s just next to the bonnet release arm. Then bleed the system through, ensuring you have fluid in the reservoir at all times. Keep bleeding until all air bubbles are expelled and the fluid is clear.
Definately worth a try

Hi Lee
I didn't realise it was you, sorry.
Yes I went to N.Weald a couple of weeks ago, but they had changed it to 1/8 mile so didn't bother to run.
Definatly try bleeding the clutch before doing anything else.
