oil temp at 140+

hi all spoke to the guy at autocraft/tvr craft today.( he,s the guy who,s done the 17k rebuild) and he seems to think its the sender? says if the oil was running that hot there wud b smoke etc, as the water temp is ok dont know what to think. any ideas people please?

I would tend to agree with the theory that you would see smoke...change the sensor...certainly a reasonably cheap option, and eliminate that first.

Sender or gauge. There is no way you'll get a Cerbera's oil to 140 centigrade.

Just a thought - does your gauge have a centigrade/fahrenheit switch? 140F = 60C which would be about right. Switch may have been knocked accidentally?

How are you reading the temp of your oil? Do you have a after market temp gauge?
Cerbs only have a Water Temp and Oil pressure gauge, and neither go up to 140!!!

Low oil
High oil
No cooler and prolonged high speed running
