3 Problems now

Think Trev is making us pay for making him go swimming at the weekend.
The accelerator is now very stiff and jerky. I thought it had the carpet caught under it but it hasn't.
The speedo is intermittent, one minute it works fine the next its not reading anything. Fine for the mileage on the clock I suppose, but not so great if I come across a speed camera.
Finally the power steering has now gone stiff and refuses to center itself after turning a corner, my arms are starting to look like Arnies with all the pulling and pushing I'm doing.
Just got the other car back from the garage now Trev is playing up, beginning to think the cars aren't happy unless one of them is playing up.

By the time the power steering has finished playing up I'll be able to pick it up and carry it the workout is that good

I was driving it Thurs night, the accelerator was playing up then but the steering was fine, the steering was normal when I got it out of the garage, it only started after I'd picked my daughter up from school on the way home.

If your cable goes it's 50 quid give or take for a new one. But... likely a few hours labour to fit. If your man fancies a go himself and needs some help I'll pop up if I'm here. It's a beast of a job but not a killer.
In the meantime try putting a little oil down the plastic sheath to help things.

The accelerator cable is fraying its self apart. Either get a new one or risk your life with it getting stuck open.
The speedo is the sensor on the drive shaft, check the rigging of it or is could just be damp in the connector
I agree the if te fluid in the PAS is ok then its the UJ, is it jerky at all?
I've had all three problems.
On mine cure was
1= Dodgy cable, eventually snapped
2= Dodgy sender needs cleaning (discovered after I sent the speedo off for repair, and found the fault still there)
3= Mine had no power steering fluid in last week. (I've had the clutch changed recently & an new air con rad fitted, but wouldn't have thought they needed to empty the power steering. Anyhoo, re filled with Auto transmission fluid & it's working fine again)

Yes it turns about 45 degrees fine, then it sticks and you have to really pull it to get it to move and it feels jerky. Its fine weaving in traffic, it turning corners that are the problem.
ETA: Have tried unscrewing the top to get to the dipstick for the fluid, and can't get it to budge, what do they do super glue them on?
