Took the Dover to Dunkirque Ferry on Sunday, I was parked right at the front of the boat in pride of place. When I got back to the car after the crossing, it would not open!!

None of the caravans could get off (first time a Cerb has slowed down caravan's), but got some sneers/jeers from the driver and passenger of a Z4 (note to self, buy Z4 after passing hairdressers exams).

After 45 minutes of trying the 'special way' to get in and having signed a disclaimer as the crew wanted me to smash the side window to get in, (they couldn't load the trucks), I spoke to Dream Machines (thank God they're open on Sundays) and finally managed to open her. What a relief! I drove off with the alarm going and reset it all on dry land. Since when, all the electrics have been fine.

The batteries in the key are fine, the crew told me they had a lot of radar equipment at the front of the boat and that may have effected the alarm. Is this possible?

It's a possibility. The BBC ran a story in Norfolk about a Radar dome being accused of causing problems to car electrics

It appears that a European directive allocated the frequency of 433.92Mhz to car alarms, despite that frequency already being allocated to MOD and private radio networks.

Had the same prob on the Norfolk Line earlier in the year (posted on the LM forum about it). The trick is to get to your car early and open it straight away, then you can either press the start button straight away (before the immobiliser isolates the starter circuit) or put the black key in the socket to deactivate the immobiliser. It seems if you wait and other vehicles start up, the extra RF noise prevents your alarm/immobiliser from getting the signal and therefore you getting in the car.

I've experienced this, parked in Halfords car park nobody could unlock their cars with remotes only keys (all their alarms then went off) I couln't get into the Saggy of course, this lasted for an hour or so and then all was fine. The local commercial radio station is less than a mile away.

Had this at Carrefour at LM this year. But not with the Cerb, with the Rangey!

Remote alarm would only work if virtually touching the car, usually it will open it a nearly 100yds! It was fine back at Maison Blanche.

My old Subarau P1 used to have this problem - they all did it due to police comms system interfering. Used to happen quite often - so used to have to use the key, trip the alarm and then turn it off with the key pad ! REally embarassing !

Not sure wether this is in the owners manual or not, but certainly in the Workshop manual, the one on CD. Do none of you guys have it?
