I reckon my front springs are knackered

I've been trying in vain to get the front of the car to rise.
No joy.
I have the AVO's wound up and the springs virtually squashed completely.
I rang AVO and the shocks are the right ones.
The tyres are rubbing all the time.
I even to the Spider alloys off and put the original wheels and tyres back on, very little improvement.
Where is the best place to get new springs?
I don't want something to give a rock-solid ride, standard height and ride will be fine.

Springs are cheap and readily available. You just need to work out what length, diameter and stiffness you want and hand over thirty quid or so. Unloading the old springs and loading the new ones is moderately dodgy unless you know what you're doing and have the necessary equipment, so you might want to have a professional do that bit for you.

This is what I'm not too sure about.
Diameter is ok, I'll just measure the ones I have.
It's the length and stiffness rate I need.

I'm fine with this.
I've done this part plenty of times with plenty of cars and I have the equipment.

Worth a look to see if the old ones have any markings on then, but you won't be that lucky. Obviously you can find how long the current ones are once they're unloaded, find what rate they are, get some the same rate an inch or so longer, you're home and dry. Finding the rate is the only remotely tricky bit, and one option would be to buy the springs through somebody like Joolz or Derek who know the car and can tell you what the standard spring rates are - if you think the existing ones are the original rate. Bit of a gamble, and it'd be nice to confirm that. If you don't mind a bit of arithmetic you can get a pretty good idea what the current rates are by measuring the spring length at the normal ride height and then measuring the free length once it's unloaded, the rates can be worked out from that.
Ah not much help then, could be blue or green, or metallic blue? anyway upshot is : if yor springs are coil bound on static load (or close to coil bound) you'll be pounding the heck out of the lower arm over bumps, so check that for straightness (i've seen many bent arms from coil bound springs over the years) .. and replace teh springs wth something sensible around 375-450 lb/inch and 8 inch in length depending what use you put the car to and how you like the front end to feel.

I'm not too sure as the car has been too low since I brought it over.
When I drove it in the UK on decent roads there was no problem.
Shortly before I got to the ferry it grounded ans it happens a lot over here.
I've never had it at normal height an I cant rise it because of the springs.
Right now they are virtually closed completely and the front wheels barely clear the arches.
I'm not really using the car as I don't want to do any damage to it.
The Skyline is getting all the use again, but that'll have to change soon .......... too slow

) I reckon once I get the info I need about the correct length and rate of the springs I'll easily source a brand new set of springs for about the same money.

No, I mean what length are the springs when the car is sitting normally on its wheels on a flat surface.
I'll check with a measuring tape later, but all I can tell you is that they arecompletely compressed to get 1/2" of clearance between the tyre and the wheel-arch.

Why dont you call a dealer and get them to sell you some? The original equipment ones are ok ie eibach? Or use Jools to mail order you some of his uprated ones?
There's no dealer over here, but plenty of businesses who sell springs and suspension components, I just need to tell them what I need as they don't know.
Also I have seen the name Jools mentioned several times.
