Just wondering if anyone has had this done and whether they would recommend it?
Roughly how much would it cost?

I'm looking for a little more noise, better pops, bangs and flames evil and an improvement in driveability... though a few extra ponies would be nice too hehe

the linked decats i have heard are quieter at tickover, not sure there's much difference at highend..
can anyone shed light on why the linked decats produce gains in HP - is it something about equalising the pressure between the manifolds?
this is somehting i'm looking at with the whirlwind induction and remapping.

Thanks mike. Do you have sports pipes as well? Would you be able to PM me the rough costs?

I was hoping for some induction mods too but my service dipped into the upgrades budget more than I thought!

I need to replace my standard (knackered, horrible brown coloured burnt ones) and the whirlwind ones are not much more than the standard ones which are "only" £40.00 each Sir - yeah, times 8 plus VAT and its suddenly a lot of money. But the question is, do they NEED a remap, thats another £500 or so spondoolies, and all of a sudden I'm into nearly a grand to replace 8 bits of rubber tubing!.
I understand a remap is the ideal route, but will no remap have a detrimental effect?

they're best with a remap, because they lose you low down hp compared to the std hoses, but a remap gets you more than the lost hp back .. so with short induct and remap the car is more powerful everywhere, with only short induct it'll be more powerful at the top and less powerful at the bottom. ie the hp slope becomes more aggressive.

there's more than enough fuelling to cope with the extra hp at the top on the std 4.5 chip so you *can* fit them and not have any fuelling issues.

I did that, just put the pipes from TCS on myself. There's a previous thread somewhere with pics.

I _think_ I noticed a slight loss of power at low revs, but when accelerating its fine! Perhaps a remap might smooth out the curve a bit - I've still got the usual boggy bit at 2000 revs.

But the car performs similarly to how it did with the purple and brown pipes, I'd say at least as good.

Andy.

Thanks Trackcar & Alinton, I'll fit them myself and get a remap at a later date (That way I can kid myself I didnt spend so muxh money).
One more question - Do they stay purple, or like the standard ones do they soon look a burnt grotty brown?

Joolz, you couldn't PM me a rough cost for having the linked decat fitted and a mbe re-map and how much extra the induction kit would be?
cheers

Have to say TCS/Joolz will do you proud, I've had the induction ,linked decats and chip done and what a difference it was driving a new car. Lots of noise(loud noise).rotate

Joolz's kit is blue on my 4.5.

Linked decat, MBE remap gave 413bhp. BIG improvement in driveability too.

Whirlwind pipes and remap took BHP from 370 to 419, TCS did the biz.

So probably worth finding the extra money and getting the induction done at the same time? Are most of the gains from the induction or the remap?
