2000 4.5 Cerbera Modifications

I have recently bought a 2000 Reg 4.5 Cerbera facelift,with 13.5k miles. I was wondering what anyone would recomend in the way of modifications. It has 18" Black-Chrome Spyders, but apart from that it is standard. I'm hearing alot about better suspension and exhausts. But could do with some advice on exactly what I so go for and how much I can expect to pay for it

Depends what you want !
I would suggest:-

Get used to the car.
Get new suspension (eg Nitrons)
Get car decatted (with linked decats)
Get ECU and 'pipes'
Possibly go for uprated brakes

Kojak, thats what I thought, until I came across Paul of Austec Racing!

Now HE IS THE GOD of Cerberas! and with a pedigree PROVEN history in GT/Caterham/Tuscan Challenge racing mech/tech support too! and he's bigger than Joolz! plus he's got a huge rotweiler and eats 3 whole turkeys a day!!! Beat that!

Anyway, my knobs probably the biggest on here, wanna lay your eyes on some serious rip? I'm willing to go all out on a knob dyno just to prove my peak power! Vixpy, sort out a knob-dyno day! dont forget to stack up on the pinios

I have to say Austec too as they've worked wonders with mine.
They have a very impressive place indeed including their own engine dyno!
Let face it to have that sort of set up you must be a well proven professional!


I'd say go for

1. suspension (Avoid the cheaper ones if you can as you'll only want the better ones later!) Ohlins/Intrax I dont know about the nitrons as the one I drove I didn't like but it may not have been set up correctly!

2. induction/exhaust/re-map
3. bigger brakes.
4. NOS

Forgot to say I've had dealings with both Austec and Jools. I doubt any real rivalry exists between them and they both give top notch service.

True enthusiasts both of them. I would probably just let geography decide.

There are indies' all over the country who offer excellent service, be it Austec, TrackCar or APM to name just a few, my advise would be to try them and vote with your wallet when you find one you're happy with.

Well, at least trying to keep up a good front for the newbies. It would be a shame if either one of them stopped messing with AJP8's wouldn't it

By the way, always wanted to ask, how do you make the decision when to press the button for nitro. For me it would start off whenever I got road rage, but after a while I'd be sellotaping the button down because my finger was needed for other things while I'm driving .

I didnt understand half of what ash was saying, so I guess I'm just old. Way back many moons before half the current crowd were on this board and when ash was first trying to put together the plans for his starship. I challenged him to a winner takes all race around brands hatch. My standard Cerb (apart from my nitrons and total disregard for life and limb) versus his starship enterprise Cerb. He turned me down then, I wonder whether he would again?
