Hi all

I managed to get to the rear pads and clean them up, applied some gasket goo, etc - no more chatter or squeak. thank god!!

But now with my new found confidence and ability to use a trolly jack, hammer and pliers...I am gonna try the fronts.

Are they as easy as the rear?
I can't see the split pins?
Are they connected in a stupendously different, mind-boggling and silly way to the rear?
Does it involve some acrobatics to get too?

Any advice or step by step guide would be much appreciated.

Best

Sorry...one more thing.

How do I change the oil pressure relief spring? is it a job i can do myself? Or best left to next oil change? I can't stop fiddling in the engine bay, must...fix...something.

It's running like a dream, so have to do something with time...the weather is crap, so can't bloody drive it.

And it's just way too wierd to have a Cerb with no probs right now. (Great, have just jinxed myself real good I am sure, now the diff is gonna blow up and the fuse box is gonna internaly combust or something). Which will give me something to do...

Front pads are easy. No split pins, but remove the cross bolt with hex head and associated spring (not a coil spring, a shaped bit of wire thet presses the pads into the caliper). The pads just lift out and drop back in thereafter.

Oil pressure relief spring is under a nut about 25mm diameter on the Right hand side of the engine low down. Access from below. There is a good thread on here somewhere with pictures. That is what I refered to. Fairly straight forward, but access to the nut is a bit limited!

....Actually, if you look in this thread: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=312718&f=6&h=0 having admired the lovely pic (nice job Cerbhead) you can see the pressure relief spring cover. It is the large slightly rusty nut near the front of the oil /water/steering pump assembly.
