how is this going to affect the dealer/service network?

I am sure they will retain "some" of their character...but probably not all..
But then again a balance of raw fun, extreme power and increased reliability can't be a bad thing.

You guys make me laugh.
TVR's were always a KIT car, but they are a car none the less and their value drops because the sort of person who buys them doesn't like a KIT car image.
Factory closing with no proper support relegates them to the sort of buyer who doesn't need a dealership network to support them, because they never used dealers anyway and was quite at home sourcing parts for the car. Majority of parts for the cerb weren't TVR made anyway. They themselves did the kit car thing and outsourced most of it.
I have a garage at home where the Cerb sits next to an AC Cobra Kit car. The kit car has a bog standard 350 Chevy engine in with a carb on top. It ain't top of the tree engineering, but I have to say to mine own credit that the Kit car is a little better put together than the Cerb.
But, and this is the big but, the Cobra has been valued at £24K and its over fifteen years old. My 2000 LW 4.5 is probably worth about 18-20K? I know which I'd prefer to be driving.
The problem with the Cerb is its still regarded as a production car when it most certainly isn't and probably never has been. It anyone ever bought out the Cerb as a a parts bin to be put together as a kit it'd blow the Kit car market to pieces. If they'd have bought it out at the time I picked up my Cobra bits I would probably never have had a Cobra. Anyone old enough to admit drooling over lotus kit cars?
So many times recently you can read on this forum about someone stripping their car down to nothing for frame coating and engine stripping. On top of that you have so much more support from indies/forum than I ever found about cobras when putting my cobra together.
So I say bring it on. I've never stepped inside a TVR dealership, and probably never will now
. I have no interest in the later crop of TVR's. And if last years mileage figures are anything to go by I probably won't get the Cobra out of the garage again this year

A Big attraction to me of the Cerbera is that it's British (or should that be English?) It's an amazing Car with a cracking V8 engine, that has quirks, faults and minor niggly reliability problems, but its British.
Now hands up all of thos who would to;erate a Sports car that had quirks, faults, and niggly reliability issues, and on top of that it was made in Poland/Czech Republic/Lithuania or wherever he is reloacting to?? A TVR that is made in Poland just isnt a TVR, no matter what the badge on the bonnet says, so in my opinion this is the end of TVR, it's a great shame, but it doesnt affext me in the slightest. I dont like the new TVR's anyway, and like Julian I've never been into a TVR dealership in my life, and have no aspirations to own a Sagaris, or T350, ever.
Peter Wheeler will step in now, and if he calls the company PTR (or how about PWR?) it doesnt matter, we will all know that its 100% more a TVR yhan a Polish TVR - Good Riddance Nicolai!

Cerb = kit car ?! No way !! Rover V8 engined cars I agree have the kit car 'stigma'. I certainly dont see the ajp and s6 engined cars as kit cars. What defines them as a kit car (IMHO) is simply the opinion of those that dont know what is under the bonnet.
Sure it is a fibre glass body - but there are many specialist cars that arent made from steel and I dont see those as kit cars either.
The quality of the build of a cerb is better than that of a lotus elise in many ways.

I for one would not describe myself as a mechanic and for me this is a frightening prospect if there is going to be no more support network. I can see the costs of owning a Cerb potentially going up??
I love TVRs I bought my car only a month ago and I'm seriously dismayed. I can't be the only one who uses/will use a dealer to service the car. I know a few on here who definately do so.
I don't think personally that I am less of a fan because I am not a mechanical genius.

LOL when away on business recently I got chatting to one of the guys from Group that I didn't know too well in the pool (well it was 42degs). We were talking about cars generally and dropped TVRs and Cerbera's into the conversation, I almost drowned when he said the Cerb was a kit car wasn't it
.............that was after he told me he used to own a Viper.................................................kit car

Simon - dont worry , there are loads of indies (eg APM, Austec etc) who have a major stake in the need to keep Cerbs on the road ! So they will help us ensure we can keep them going.

Does it really matter where they are built as long as they still embody all that is important for us. Why are we so worried about who built them, when they weren't screwed together properly and have dodgy drawings on the innards?
Personally if they were built in North Korea I'd be happy if the quality was good enough - mind you getting them from there to here might be an issue...
