Strange Window Operation

My car recently had a respray at Austec. However since she's been back, the passenger side window doesn't quite behave like it used to.

Normally when I go for a blast I have both windows down so that I can listen to the noise
If the windows are only half way down - but enough to clear the pillar - if I go to get out the window remains where it is. Which is correct as the window doesn't need to go down any further in order to open the door as the pillar has already been cleared. Pushing the door button to get back in does nothing either. All good.

Now if I go around to the passenger side and push the button to get in, the window goes down even though the starting position of the window had already cleared the pillar? When you shut the door, the window goes up again although depending on the exact start position it can go up enough to just enter the pillar. Obviously this differs to the drivers side.

If I lock the car, then the drivers window always goes fully up. However the passenger side sometimes doesn't go fully up and therefore leaves the window open

Fernhurst had a quick look at it for me and said everything seems fine. All the switches are working and they even tried a different control box.

Any ideas? I don't really have the time to get the car back to Austec at the moment.

all sounds quite normal to me
i always wind the windows up fully before exiting the car then i know that the windows will be all the way up when its locked

It could be a loose switch/contact, an intermittent electrical fault is an absolute swine to trace...

Not sure if there's any clever electrics to detect window position. Only the read/micro switch in the door which I think detects when it has cleared the A-pillar and can pop the catch.

Unless you have an intermitant problem with that then not sure what else it could be.

Ah the noise!

My first 4.2 occasionaly would close either window at random - most disconcerting in traffic - my current 4.5 has never done so.

The operation is not intermittent - the passengers window always goes down, regardless of the window starting position. This just doesn't happen on the drivers side and I can never recall it being like it before it went to Austec (they removed all of the doors for the respray). The only thing that seems intermittent is the passenger window not going up fully when the fob is pressed to lock the car. It's happened twice of which once I never even knew about it until I returned to the car

Very strange indeed. But as you say Matt the window operation is fairly simple. Fernies guessed that there may be something wrong with the wiring loom? In which case, probably will never find it.

I just look a little bit of a Nob now having to stand around waiting for the windows to close before I walk away from the car!

Try closing the windows fully, then disconnect the black window control box in the boot for 30 seconds, then re-connect.

I did exactly what Jensena did after I had the ECU and battery disconnected with windows down - after 2 hours of no power I connected everyihting and the windows behaved just like yours. But a reset fixed it and all is good now.
