and just as I walked back into my street (coop about 10 min walk away), I saw my new neighbours fron opposite driving into their park with their prius- those were so far the only ones who said my car would be loud, wake the kids up @ night (and do you really need a car like that on the island were you cannot use it anyway)... I suppose they read the Guardian and are teachers...
while I was openening my door they were opening their boot and -
yup -right unloading their coop shopping from the boot
So which is more PC a 360 bph loud Gaz Guzzler taking her well deserved weekend rest or a 110 bph fun-free socalled eco car uselessly driven around town (NO folks, they were NOT doing the family shopping, just 2 bags like me)

You might want to ask those neighbours of yours in their 'eco' friendly Prius where the electricity comes from to recharge their vehicle. You might also want to ask them how much of their vehicle is recyclable because I assure you the answer will be a.Massive power stations and b. a lot less than most cars because the majority of their vehicle cannot be recycled.

Ah the Prius......complete battery pack replacement at 12k miles which is quantacosta ,wonder what happens to all that heavy metal plus the efficiency loss throuh the national grid from burning oil to recharing the car is in the order of 40%.(Scientific American Energy Feature this year)

Another thing that p£*$es me off is that TVR owners have to pay higher road tax than say a Micra, Focus or golf.
We may have a larger engine but I'd say in most cases TVR owners do a lot less miles per year than these eco cars, and also we tend to drive on less populated B roads so we are not adding to traffic jams and conjestion!
5k to 10k miles per yeaar in a cerb on country lanes and the odd trips into town surely causes less road/air damage than 20k miles in a small engined people carrier taking kids to and from school and picking up a carton of milk from tescos. So therefore our road tax should be cheaper than these road damageing, traffic jam causing heaps of junk!

Exactly guys- I do NOT really care- but it just pi##es me off that those peaople think they can point their fingers at us and sleep better because they are aware- They are not (neither aware nor better). What we do is probably not exactly good for the environment, but we do not want to mission everybody and mess in other peoples lives (to many Cerbs- loss of exclusivity and congestion on B roads), and we do not believe we are somewhat better and finally we at least know roughly what we are talking about technically- rant over
I just heard on the TV that this week the govt is bringing in some new laws this week to hit owners of 'gas guzzlers', and another step to make it asier in the furure to start charging us per mile for travelling !!
Excuse me ! Arent we taxed already for travelling? Petrol is taxed, so the more petrol we use the more tax we pay.
They say it's all in the name saving the environment, which is all absolute friggin bo****s! It is just a way to get more money of us.
Heres an intersting fact, this is true. If you take an index for the volume of emissions from exhaust gasses and say that today it is 100. If the whole of the UJ tomorrow stopped using all transport i.e No cars, no lorries, no buses - we just stopped, and stopped for ever, not just for one day, but for ever. Then the 100 index would drop slightly obviosly, But in just 87 days, the increase in emmisions from the growth of the economy in china would bring it back to 100. So it really makes no difference what we do in the UK in isolation. So all the governemt plans to tax us are solely for increasing revenue.
