Getting my hands on my first cerby next week, 4.5 red rose. Its been decated and has a sports exhaust already. After reading some posts on here it seems i wont be realising its full potential as it stands.

Whats the cars currently likely output, not 440bhp i assume

I dont want to go mad on the engine mods, but might be interested in a remap, whats involved getting this done, (time, costs etc) ?

Thanks.

Save yourself a whole heap of money and have a fuel pressure regulator fitted and the very latest Red Rose chip. In terms of power you'll be somewhere around 410bhp (genuine). Cost approx £300.

Not heard this before. I thought a 4.5 RR without a reprogrammable ECU and induction kit was only fit for less than 400?

If you are putting out 365-375bhp you'll be doing well.

Best bet is to go for a straight forward remap which will cost around £500 - £800 depending on where you take it, options included Trackcar Solutions in Chesterfield and Austec in Surrey. This should see a Red Rose at between 390-400bhp. Next option is to go for the Short Induction Kit as per the Whirlwind induction Kit, this will cost around £350 and alternative induction kits are £650 but these include new back plates to make the smaller diameter pipes fit.

For 400bhp+ on a Red Rose the best option would be to go for the Induction Kit and then remap, this will work out cheaper. Again contact both Trackcar Solutions or Austec for prices etc.

Jules.

I have a 4.5 red rose 2003 model

I went to Joo at TCS and had the whirlwind kit and a remap with decats (already had sports exhaust)

Base run before mods was 376bhp

I then had the above fitted and it made 390bhp

Joo couldn't get it above this figure (he says it should mae about 419bhp)

However it appears that the later 4.5's had different (softer) cams fitted to them which cost abotu 20bhp.

Joo managed to lean the mixture out a bit and we ended up with 405.4bhp (forget what torque was)

Its a much nicer to drive car, so if yours is an older say 2001 then i reckon with the above you would see 420 almost if a good car

Are those prices including the VAT? Is joolz closer to the £500 than the £800?

For bespoke mapping on your MBE ECU Joolz charges around £600 + vat, for an off the shelf chip around £400 + vat (that's where the £500 came from), I would always recommend the bespoke map as you are guaranteed power gains as well as vastly improved driveability, gives Joolz a call or email him on sales@track-car-solutions.co.uk, he'll be able to talk you through what's on offer.

ps...makes for a great Christmas present.

Hi Paul,

The remap does involve time on the rolling road to ensure that the gains have been made in the right areas, it also includes bespoke mapping to your particular Cerb. Each Cerb is different so bespoke mapping offers you the chance to get improved driveability as well as some impressive power and torque gains, add a Whirlwind type induction kit to this and you'll be seeing upto and in some cases over 400bhp. What is also important is that it is not just the peak figure that is important it is the gains elsewhere in the rev range that make an impressive, driveable, fast car.

Contact Joolz at sales@track-car-solutions.co.uk for more info, he is still based in Chesterfield.

Jules.

I am still based in S Yorks.
