Over zealous alarm

My alarm’s got its knickers in a twist.
Sometimes, after being disarmed, it takes it into its head to initiate a repeated chirruping accompanied by flashing hazards. This can also occur after having started the engine and… whilst in motion somwhere down the road. Tres annoying.
In the end yesterday I disconnected the battery and left the car to think about what it had done for 10 minutes before returning even though, in fairness, it’s not the whole car’s fault. It didn’t do it again afterwards but I wouldn’t like to be too hasty in declaring problem solved.
Any ideas on alternative alarm re-set methods? Extended pressing of the fob or pulling the fan2/Alarm fuse didn’t help anything. Battery disconnect and being made to sit in the naughty corner for a period seems to be the only thing that has any resonance with the offender.
