Thinking of painting my S6 rocker cover crinkle black and polishing through that SpeedSix logo to smarten up the ally finish which looks a bit rough.

Anyone done this or something similar ? Worth doing ?

Worth doing if you think it looking different makes a difference to you - certainly doesn't make it any faster :-)

Don't the TVRCC offer this service... as do Leven and probably a few others...

Zircotech also do what they call a matching coating (i.e. looks like thermal but isn't) for a fairly reasonable prices something of the order of £30 per item and that includes cleaning and prep, there is a choice of colours. I had the covers and water pipes done while the headers were in for coating.[url]|http://thumbsnap.com/5SPLP4e5

Fortunately the covers aren't Magnesium, so it's cheap as chips getting them powder coated.

I can recommend Classic Powder in Uxbridge, provided you don't have a tight deadline. They are very quick, but they outsource the blasting to another company on the same estate, and they are not quick at all.

Hi
My whole engine that I rebuilt myself is sprayed with Hammerite Smooth Silver.
This was recommended by the Guy who seated the valves for me and is what he has used for years
Just get a 1mm smart gun & gauge ,thin paint to around 25seconds using a ford4 viscosity cup and set the gauge on the gun to 25 /30psi does a great job and no heat problems.
Or buy cans or Brush !!
