Windscreen Help!

I need to replace the screen and I think I'm being fed some b0ll0x!
Can anyone advise me of what there experiences have been in getting the screen done?

I've been told-

a)I need to leave the car with them for a day or more!
b)It can't be done at home or road side as it takes so long!
c)all south central TVR's have to go to reading to have it done!
d)They come from TVR only and no stock is available.
e)Even tho' its cracked and chipped it cant leak water! It must be the roof

a,b & c cant be right! Are they?
d I could well believe!
e is complete shite! I got soaked on the way home on Wednesday and it was coming from the top of the screen where the crack starts!

Any help gladly taken!

The screen is bonded in so yes you will have to leave the car with them mabye not overnight but 8 hours should suffice.
That said if you get a mobile bloke out to do it and promise not to drive the car for a bit then that should work.

I got some local fellow affiliated with national windscreens to tackle mine.

Its possible its lot leaking through the carck but where the windscreen is bonded to the top of roof, if its cracked it might be moving and creating a gap

You could try PMing Satman, He had a new screen fitted a while back.
He had a few problems with it too, so it might be worth your while having a chat to prevent you having the same probs.

Without wanting to be a doom monger. Yes TVR are the only supplier. So the windscreeen repairer will have to order one via a dealer. when mine went earlier this year, TVR were cough "out of stock" cough. It seemed that they had done thier usual and they were on back order from some company in Finland!!

I had to wait a full 3 months to get one. - lets hope thay have some in stock.

Not sure if you still have the carbon trims on yours, but these have to be cut off carefully and reglued on afterwards.

Autoglass in Manc did mine, and did an excellent job. I did however grill them beforehand if they had done one before, and they came out with all the right answers re carbon trim etc. As it is a tricky job and it does need 8 hours to dry etc, I would recommend you leave the car with them. lets face it you would do a better job under nice warm cover with no one hovering over you against doing it back outside someones house?

I have been waiting for a new screen since May, ****glass replaced my cracked screen in May but manged to crack the new one when putting the new one in. The only ones available currently are the heated screens.

Had mine done last year and heated screens were the only ones available then too. That's what I ended up with still only paid the £60 excess and the heating elements are so fine as not to be noticed. Doesn't work though

We have a top tinted screen in stock for a post 96 Cerbera in our distribution Centre in Bristol. We have branches throughout the South of England up to the West Midlands, with engineers with TVR screen experience at various branches through the network.
They will travel to any of our branches in their local area to replace screens that really need someone with the right experience. There is one of these people in Southampton within easy distance of wherever you are in Hampshire.
A Cerbera screen is definitely not a roadside job and should really be done in a workshop with plenty of space around the car.
It's unlikely that the water leak is coming in through the damage but could be leaking through close to the damage where the glass is bonded to the car.

No - nothing to wire it to. Car was off the road for 2 months (cracked windscreen - MOT expired) so was glad to get a screen and get through the MOT and back on the road.

Thank for the reply's lads.

I'm not leaving the car with them for nearly two days plus the hassle of getting back and then there again!

I've found someone (by chance this weekend) with one in stock coming this week to fit it at my place (heated one same as what some of the others have said). I have a huge garage to which they can work in and the cars a toy so I dont need to drive it for as long as it takes to set.

I cant beleive that the screen in these things is such a pain in the a55 to get and have fitted at home!
