More starter advice - please

sometimes when I turn the starter it turns fine, whilst other times it turns just a little - as if the battery is flat. However if I leave it for a couple of minutes it usaully then turns the engine over as normal. Any ideas which component is at fault?

Do'es it gradually get slower? or is it if you stop turning over then try again its slow-the first tends to point towards battery,the latter is a tired starter

It will struggle to turn over for half a second, and then die as if battery is flat. Then I switch off. leave for a 20 seconds or so. Try again, and then usaully it seems to turn over ok.

Battery is always left on accumate battery conditioner and showing a green light, so I assume the battery is fine.

check the condition of the big -red wire from the battery and the connections to the solenoid, both can go a bit cripsy over time and are cheap to replace.

That sounds like a starter motor starting (or well on its way) to fail.

Sounds like a starter...not uncommon
