Petrol Leak

Hi All

Does anyone know where petrol could be leaking from at the back of the car?

It only happens when the engine is running and it really is running out. It is dropping on to the rear wish bones I think just next to the exhaust I've had a look but can not see any thing without getting it up on ramps.

I was gutted had a pass from the wife on Sunday morning charged the battery Saturday started her up ticked over like a dream then smelt the petrol!!!!!

Are you sure it's definitely leaking. I had a smell of petrol in the car, which turned out to be the filler neck for the tank having come slightly loose.

The petrol pump is up inside the rear near side wheelarch, if thats the general area where the petrol seems to be coming from, check that first.

Thanks for the reply; it is running and dripping off the frame work and left a puddle on the drive, which is only going to please the wife again.

Thanks for the offer but I live near Wimbledon (Raynes Park) and I'm not very keen on driving her with the petrol coming out this fast. Besides at the rate it is coming out it would take two tank loads to get there.

Have you got stands, a suitable jack, lights etc to get a better look at the problem without moving the car? You're not that far from me, so I could potentially pop over. Have an evening class tonight, but could do Tuesday.

Be VERY careful, there are have been a couple of fires (including mine), which have taken out the car completely.

I would recommend considering buying a fire extinguisher and perhaps getting it towed to a TVR friendly garage.

I don't have a jack that will go under and my drive is on a slope I'm waiting for a call back from a TVR friendly guy at Shannon Corner to see if he can put it up on their ramps so I can have a look.

I had a bit of fire a couple of weeks ago so already have one. The washer pipe melted and went up when it was in the garage having an MOT.

its msot likely comming from there, there are 2 rubber hose fuel lines under the arch, quite noticable, get a torch.

This makes sense as the petrol does look like it coming from that side I'll get the torch out tonight.
