Cerbera / in Thunder in London / Oh Dear... Clutch broken
Discussion
Firstly would like to say - TVR, London, Thunder today... IT WAS SUPERB!!! Great to see all of those that attended.
So... now on the down side .... Just got back home, and have a clutch that doesnt seem to engage properly.
So - after advice..
Clutch now has to be depressed all of the way down... not a good thing!
Found some hydraulic fluid coming out of the drives side seal... not from near the bell housing..
Does this indicate a problem with the master cylinder / pipe work - are there any signs to work out where the clutch is broken.. is this going to cost me lots of money... :-(
Again - thanks for a fantastic day out in london!
Cheers,
Stuart.

Have a look up at where the push rod on the back of the pedal goes through the rubber dust seal. If there is any clutch fluid there, then yes you have a weeping master cylinder.
Quite a simple job to replace just the seals. It can be done upside down in the footwell. Just a bit of a pig getting the circlip back in.
I know, i've done it twice.
Oh yeah, and what a top day it was today..... Cerb never missed a beat all day. Behaved perfectly even in the some of the worst stop/start traffic i've ever sat in.

Can anyone explain my Clutch issues.
Everything was fine with no problems at all untill we got close to Piccadilly Circus. Traffic was moving about one car length every 10-15 mins so I stopped the engine and got out the car to take photos.
When I got back in, the clutch pedal went straight to the floor with no resistance. It came back with a few frantic pumpings and seemed to stay OK provided I kept my foot on the clutch and in first gear. If I dropped it into neutral and took my foot off the clutch it went to nothing again.
Engine temp had been hovering between 95-105 for two hours as the fans kicked in and out.
Cue one hour of crazy driving through London traffic with my foot on the clutch the whole time. As soon as the engine cooled down on the A40 the clutch was fine again.
I'm guessing this is heat related. Heat from the Cats through the gearbox (warm gearchange knob) and then affecting the slave cylinder? But this doesn't explain the foot down on the clutch to fix, so was heat going through the clutch plates?
Anything I need to check - I'm going to look at fluid levels tonight. Anything else? Thanks

my clutch went on the 406 on my way home, pumped the pedal a few times and it seemed to come back. only to go completely when i got home. checked the reservoir this morning and no fuild, have now top it up and blend at load of gery looking fuild crap out of it and i appear to have got the clutch working for the moment.
