Diff Oil Level Check

I've noticed a film of oil on the underside of the exhaust box and am assuming this is coming from the Diff.

Is it possible to check the level by taking off the O/S rear wheel and reaching through It's just raising the car, while keeping it level, will be a nightmare with a trolley jack and axle stands!!

you can leave the rear wheel on. just jack up the drivers side a bit and its fiddly but easy to get at

I had oil dripping onto the exhaust at the rear... It was actually coming from the seal at the back of the gear box, from where it dripped onto a heat shield between the exhaust and prop. It ran along this shield and dripped onto the exhaust near the diff. The oil then burnt off, leading to smoke coming out of the rear wheel arch when stationary, unless parked facing down a steep slope, in which case it came up into the cabin around the handbrake!

As you can imagine, seal costs very little, but there is a fair bit of labour as exhaust and prop had to come out.
