Another option for headlights

Any thoughts on this as a replacement for the standard early headlamp:

Look. If you want a BMW then go buy one 
My lad fitted these to his old Clio, but they only look good if you drive around on parkign lights like so many BMW drivers. If you actually want to see where you are going you have to put your headlights on and then you don't see the rings.

Look. If you want a BMW then go buy one
Not really neccessary to say that is it. I am looking for an upgrade to the poor lighting as it left the factory. If this is an upgrade, that means that I do not have to spend a fortune to enable me to have better vision then that is a good thing my opinion.
And if I wnated a bmw, then yes I would buy one, but I have a Cerbera because that is what I wanted, and hopefuly one soon with better lighting.

Exactly, you've got a Cerbera not a Vauxhall Nova, This isnt an upgrade, it wont improve the lighting one little bit ! It's a MaxPower mod for the Nova boys, leave it to them.

Had a look at these:

and spoke to PIAA about them. Unfortunately they cannot be used as headlights, since they are not designed with an angled dip beam and would therefore fail an MOT test. I suspect the Crystal Halogens are the same, since they're not E-marked according to the advert. I'm still looking for a good 7" round headlight with a clear lens, to maintain the original look with decent light output. PIAA do a complete H4 HID replacement kit, but it is seriously expensive at ~£700!

Actually, I don't like the idea of making the cerb a boyracer looking car, but I do quite like the look of those headlights. They are different and modern and most people who look inside my cerbera say it looks like something from the future anyway!
If you like them and they give a better vision at night then I'd go for it and then post some photos on here to show us. Go on, you know you want to be the first, I think they'll look great at dusk.
My Capri had 7" headlights. I was trying to remember some of the suppliers.

Will post you details of Gas discharge supplier, have these lenses without the leds (benefit of clear lenses- modern withouth the maxpowerfactor -imho of course), and powerbulbs which would be a nice combination- wanted to put those on my cerby befor this sunday- gice me a mail if you're interested...

A fundamental problem of the 7” lights is the way that crap and moisture gets in and degrades the reflector (and gets on the inside of the lens).
In order to improve this, whether whatever bulb type or lenses are used, a move to a sealed unit would be a step in the right direction.
I quite like the look of the s-v-c ones – but hard to tell if they’re likely to be an improvement in the longevity stakes.

That is a problem. One of my long term projects is to use some of the lights I mentioned, but make 'smooth' transparent headlight covers like the griff has to cover them up. This guy has done it here www.hbpsystemsplc.co.uk/headligh.htm
Some of the early Cerb racers had this done, looks quite good. One of the German guys has done it to his cerb.
I already have some spare light trims to take mould from, but just need to get round to it
