Headlamp removal and partnumbers for LHD headlamps
Discussion
Hi Tivvers,
Just bought a Rosso Pearl TVR Cerbera 1997 and I live in the Netherlands. Do any of you know how to remove the covers and the headlights. Somebody told me they are fixed with glue (what glue to use?).
Normally I would fit the original Bosch items again unless there are nice clearlights on the market. Aren't these headlights the same as on a LandRover Defender?

You need to jack the car up and take the front wheels off.
There are two access covers in the front of the wheel arch, a round one behind the headlight and a square one below it.
Take off the round cover and get a friendly giant squid to reach in and undo 4 wing nuts that are tghtened onto studs that are glued to the underside of the cover.
There is a rubbish piccie of the upside down cover but it does sort of show the studs.
The better piccie of the wing shows the holes through which the studs go - and hence how far forward you have to reach to get at the front 2 wing nuts
(Hence the need for extremely long arms)
They are sealed with sikaflex 221 - a big doughnut of it around each hole in the wing. You will need to carefully push on the stud to break the seal and get the fairing to come free.
The fairing is sealed to the front of the lens with sikaflex.
The lens itself is glued to the wing with Sikaflex.
It is a truly horrid job which lots of cuts and scrapes from the fibreglass.
Whilst I was in there I added new cables and relays to feed the lamps triggered by the existing wiring and put VisonPlus bulbs in.
The end result was headlights that really work. Probably not as good as HID. But next time I'll pay someone else to do it

If all you're doing is trying to reset the dipped beam cut-off, then reach in through the arches as described above, undo the three phillips screws which retain the bulb to the headlamp reflector, rotate the lamp to the 'right-hand drive position' (there are only 2 positions) and rescrew the 3 (only the centre one has to be completely removed)retainers back in.
Have the same problem, I need to change the set up for france
The headlamps are made by Bosch and the partnumbers are:
1 305 604 026 for the lens, and
1 305 314 929 for the reflector
I am trying out some crystal headlamps, sealed units, it is a small chance that it may work so Will let you know.

Hi !
Here in Sweden You can by the parts from either Scania (it is the same lights as on a Scania truck from the late 1970´s) or a company called MECA. MECA is a big chain of stores that sell parts to a lot of different cars. Did this change on my car last year in september, the cost for the parts was less than 150 Euros.
It takes about two to four hours to do the job, the trickiest part is to adjust the lights after that you have put the new parts in. Especialy the alignment of the lens is tricky since ther are no marks what is the exact top of the lens and on the car itself so they can be adjusted together. Made the mistake to take one side apart before marking the position of the top of the lens on the fender. had to reseal it a couple of times before i got the lightpattern correct. To get the hight of the lights correct i made a mark on the garage wall shoving the hight of the lights from the original lights. Adjusted the new lights to same hight and it passed through the Swedish MOT without a problem.
Good Luck
Peppe
