Flat Battery, jump leads, recharging

I have been away for a week and have come back to a flat battery. Is this usual? I use my car almost everyday so I've never had problems with the battery. I've had it on charge for 2 days now and the light on the charger is still on charge rather than on the maintenance light. Is it OK to use jumpleads to get it started?

Jump starting is ok, bump starting is not recommended for cars with cats. If you're charging the car with a battery conditioner, it may not have a high enough charging rate to recover a deeply discharged battery. Cold weather is also a battery killer.

Why is bump starting not reccomended for cars with cats then?

Had heard it was not recommended because you get unburnt fuel on the cats, feel free to correct me though.
