how many cerbera's

Ok - so hope this is not a dumb question - anyone know (roughly or otherwise) how many cerbera's were made as a total number? Just interested really!

Dont know how many exactly, but i do know theres less than 400 on the roads, and that numbers going down rapidly....

2000 odd were never built, thats cloud nine thinking. As far as I'm aware, they made a huge number of chassis's, but the number of cars which rolled out were less by a margin, something like that. I think the real number was less than 1500, to be exact is not easy, unless someones got access to TVR's database or paperbase.

Check with DVLA, they have a record of all registered Cerberas, they'll give you a number of currently registered and active cars, say its for a car club, maybe they can do a search on their system and give us a factual number. Would be interesting to know if my 400 figure is about right.

I cant remember where the number came from, but it was a group of reputable chaps.
Each year a huge number dissapear off the roads, for what reasons god knows, bar the obvious write-offs. You'd be amazed at how many are crashed within a week of ownership, most sales these days are done to non-phers... thats when it all goes wrong.

I got a mate who can probably find out the number, i'll see what he can do for us.

The 2000 figure came up in what seemed an educated discussion here quite a while back, but no hard facts there either so would be real interesting to know. Any of our Blackpool PHers here have access to this info? Can't imagine it would be commercially sensitive info now...

The exact number built was posted somewhere on PH in the last few months by a factory insider. It was 1,4?? IIRC.

I don't believe 1,000 have been destroyed, I could believe that 1,000 have been crashed though.

Coming along... I've got together all the components now including a tweaked (450hp) LS6, T56 trans & Gaz dampers. Body is completely stripped out, repairs to fire damage done, and just started the sanding/filling/fairing the bodywork while waiting for some of the chassis & engine components to arrive. Could do with one or two of those Blackpool boys out here to give me a hand tho as it's literally a complete rebuild. Free food and board...

didn't one of the guys (worked/ran the cerb line at the factory) that runs automedon say 1996 had been build? That number kinda stuck in my head as being somewhere around the first year the cerb was released to the general public. its in a thread from a while back, just can't be bother looking.

It seems a high figure initially but I believe that, for example, there are less than 250 Escort Cosworths left out of a production run of over 7,000

So at what point do our cars become so rare that they become more valuable? Not that I'd want to sell it. It'd just be cool to hold on to a car that became rare because of the winter cull.

In my 4 years in Japan, I have seen aprox. 11-12 Cerbs for sale, and I religiously browse the local Autotrader so I know I haven't missed many on the market. i was looking for a good one for 18months...they tend to go on sale new, then sold after 4-5000km and no-one picks them up...really scary car for the Japanese. There are probably not many hidden in garages around the country. And I also counted 8 Cerbs on the Japan TVRCC website - pictures of TVR's at one of their meets.

So combined:

For sale today, there are 2 x 1996 4.2's & 1 x 2002 4.5 - In the past, I have seen 3 SpeedSixes and 4 x 4.5's. (Including mine) up for grabs.

Total for sale currently/previously: 11
TVRCC: 8
Hidden in garages: 3

So, my very uneducated guess is 22 for number of Cerbs in Japan.

Mind you, I have never, ever seen another Cerb on the road here...many tuscans and chims, Sagaris' and a few T350's.
