Cerb - Laptop probs

Ive got the software and got the lead i need to connect to laptop upto the cerb but my laptop doesnt have the serial conection on it (stupid laptop) i have seen usb to serial convertors but not sure how well they work. I know this is a little bit off topic but it still regards my cerb

Has anybody ever used a convertor? its either that or i need to find myself another cheap laptop that i can use for the car

prog works fine with my converter, cheapest bit of kit on novatech

You need to get it on comm1, i had exactly the same problem, if it came with a disc read the the read me file all the way through, it's the only way

I've tried it with a usb to serial port. We have lots at work. It all works fine but as mentioned, the software expects Com1.

You can change the com port with one of the f buttons, F10 I think.
