Whose is the v8 eng at Austec with a nice new cooling mod?

..... having my t350 engine rebuilt, popped into Austec last week and saw a v8 in the room with a dirty big hole blown in the side of the block complete with some twisted pistons & god knows what else!
sounds like a story there - has it been covered here somewhere? I'm sure it was from a cerb.....

Last one was a snapped crank. might be the same one

Sounds nasty!!!
Normally the V8 is very solid and reliable, hope this didn't happen during testing

Nope just been there and Harry's is looking and sounding well!
The busted one is from a broken 4.2 that came in from a customer.
must be a pre 98 engine they have all got a problem with the crank I know mine went the same way a few years ago.

No, they haven't "all got a problem with the crank" there were some problems with the castings but there are also a lot of early 4.2s about with very high miles on the clocks!

it was me,paul said hes never seen anything like it before,
the cam snapped first (which were new only done 2k)
then the crank,and it goes on
i wasnt going that quick either,
i am off there tomorrow for first service after rebuild,since its such a long way will have to leave in a few hours,

AUSTEC ledgends,fantastic bloody great,i arived there at 6am to wait for them to come in,dam cant rember the name of the first guy i met, had a blue 53 plate cerb(sorry)
anyway as soon as they came in they started work on my car as it was so far for me to travel back home and back again to pick it up. they were serviceing while i was waiting,went for a little walk,came back and meet and spoke to Harry.
god i am making this long winded. basicaly they had a few problems with the car,it wouldnt go on the rollers after the service which they were on all day because it was to low and tyre profiles so low and the lads and Paul were there till 10-30 at night with the car on the rollers they never stoped till they got it spot on,and thats what it is spot on.
i thought that i was going to be stranded at crawly 270 miles from home 10-30 at night,as i say they did work very hard they hadent had there tea and just keept going till it was sorted,i must confess i think if i am honest i probably would have said balls to it.great service couldnt ask for more

oh and my car is relllllllllllllllllay qwick and as smooth as silk
