DVD Head Units / Sat Nav

Has anyone installed one of the head units with the motorised slide out screens in a cerb ? I was thinking of trying one - but not sure if the dash overhang above the stereo will stop the screen going vertical, if you see what i mean.

I thought about it but went for the TomTom option instead, but there was a car in the classifieds for ages with a picture of the interior and it had one of those fitted and it looked to fit ok.

Perhaps the seller had pulled the unit out for the photo

It might be worth having a look through the classifieds to see if it's still there and if you can read the brand off the picture.

I was looking at a couple of these in Halfrauds yesterday - the Ripspeed () unit certainly had the capability of adjusting the screen angle which would cope with the dash overhang I'm sure.

Diddyman had one with a screen. Car in the classifieds (maybe the one mentioned above) so piccies here





Doesn't of course mean they will all fit but it is possible at least with some units.

Yes one on my profile, they are fully adjustable for how much they tilt and the pos'n they go back to, but they always come fully out first.
All you have to remember is that the unit does not just consists of just the head unit, there is another remote unit to put somewhere else in the car which is bigger than the head unit.

I put one of the JVC AVX2 unit's in my car. These are just the same size as a normal cd player.

If you liked the ripspeed units they sell an additional 7"? screen for about £80 which you can then feed off the video output. This will let you then have a small screen in the head unit and the larger screen for elsewhere.

I've got an Pioneer Avic-X1r in mine no problems, from memory there's an option to stop it going all the way back so it doesn't hit the top of the dash.
