Oil cap

Hi peeps,

I seems to have manged to mislay my oil cap for my 4.2. Don't suppose anyone has a spare one?!

I assume it is not a good idea to drive the car until I have a new cap.

probably not, but we did drive all the way to Brighton from essex with no cap on, in my old clio, I did think it was smoking a bit

It is weird as I last topped up a few weeks ago and I have probably have driven about 60 miles without it and no loss of oil. Off to halfrauds to see if I can get something to use as a stop gap measure until I can get a real one sent.

Do you think I could have done any damage?

Popped into halfrauds and picked up a spare petrol cap. Fits perfectly! May not exactly be the best soloution but at least pappa lurve can still have a little hoon tomorrow!

I started a 100 mile journey with my oil cap attached, ended with it missing! Unless you make sure they are really tight they can work loose, the leven cap with a rubber grommet should be better.

As long as you still have a good oil level there shouldn't be any damage, just a little bit of cleanup needed

Doesn't the Cerbera have positive crankcase ventilation?

I don't think there should be much of a drop in level, although I will of course check. The engine bay is clean as a whistle so I can't imagine I will have much of an issue.
