How low do you go ? (Oil Pressure)

Mine is very healthy post rebuild (and in fact was great pre rebuild!).
I noticed one for sale that shows the oil pressure at just over 20 which is very low for a hot engine at idle but the temp gauge suggests that the car is actually just warmng up, in which case I would expect the gauge to be showing a reading nearer 60 - 70 ?
Not that I expect people to post 'I have no oil pressure'!

Temp gauge could be fooked - mine is and reads about 15 degrees cooler than it is (I have an alternate and accurate means to check the water temp).

Oil pressure on mine is 50-60 cold.30 really warmed up.

35 PSI when VERY hot and idle very low (stuck in traffic etc no air flow over cooler after a run) never dropped below that.

About the same as mine from memory.
The 20 - 25 looks very low. MAybe just needs a spring.

Mine goes a fraction below 10psi and that was after a re-build and a new oil preasure switch, it is a Speed six though.

10 psi is low even for a SS and esp after a rebuild. Have you had the relief spring changed recently?

mines is about 60 when cold, runs about the same when hot if ive got a wee bit o gas on, when its hot at idle it goes down to about 20

Only time Ive had my hot pressure drop below 40 was in the heat of Le Mans. Normally 40 hot idle, 55 cold idle through to just nudging 65 if cold and having to give it more than I should (slow overtaking manouvre)

Mine is 80psi cold, 60psi hot (idle) 70psi hot (above idle). In very cold weather mine won't show the true pressure until the oil in the capillary tube warms up and thins out.

I take it these readings are all taken using the same grade oil?

Have always used mobil 1,Apart from what Austecs have put in it when serviced.But readings the same either way.

thats a bit of a worry. i get my car serviced by austec, and have always assumed they used the recomended mobile 1. i dont like mixing oils and as i top up with mob.1 how do i know the two oils are compatible?

Mobil claim that they're oil can be mixed with ANY other engine oil and the only effects are the reduction in Mobil 1's greaat properties.

But they would say that....

No i haven't but it has always been like that, and i have had it from brand new.
Where is the relief spring on a Speed six. oh and it has now done 44k

Some one can correct me.But i think Austec use a different brand of oils.
