Door button!

What do you know, dirty cerbera, not cleaned for 4 weeks. Clean and all looking good and now the passenger door will not open. Pressing the wing mirror button and the interior door button makes a slight noise at the door release part of the door, as though they are both buttons are trying to do something. I've look at other post on here about only one of the button working. Does this sugest it's to do with the door catch rather then the buttons. Anyone else had these this. I thought it could be too much water from washing it and was hoping it might dry out. I can open it with the window down by getting in the drivers door lowering the window and using the door release handle.

Any suggestions as to the first move, rather than panels off the door and new buttons?

well i believe that could have been mine post about one of the buttons not working....

well now they both don't work......doh!!

When this happened to me , it was the actuating lever from the solenoid to the catch which had snapped. One wire coat hanger later , problem solved

Trim panel where the seat belt runs through behind the seat . Pull it away and you should be able to see the solenoid.There should be a "wire" from the solenoid to the catch mechanism.

This happened to mine,first time i thought oh s**t!Now I know how to fix it it`s a piece of piss to do.Check the nut on the top of the solenoid(which as described above is behind the trim by the seatbelt),you`ll see it on a long thread.Simply adjust it down which in turn will make the solenoid pull more on the latch.

Thanks for the tips, but I have now located the clicking noise. I removed the panel and could see exactly what you described. But when I press the door open button the clicking was coming fro the black box in the boot label 'Door locks' I opened this up to be faced with 2 circuit boards. So i decided to unplug the connectors from the box one at a time to see what they effected. With either one unplugged the drivers door stopped working and after a few seconds would power up the window as if it was resetting, so this looked promising. I plugged them all 4 connectors back in and tried the passenger door. Thw window now dropps down but the door satys shut. So I try agian and this time window stays up. I disconnect and then connect and the window only works the once. This is as far as I have got. As I can not hear the door catch trying to open I'm not sure if any power is been sent to it?

Anyone have any other thoughts?

Unplug all 4,leave for 1min then plug back in.This resets the black box

there is a microswitch in the door, to detect the window has come down to the correct highht before popping the door open - solenoid will not click / push until microswitch has closed - check this - it is what went on mine, leaver on switch had broken

to get at it, force the door open, using the red pull chord inside the cabin...

then use the 8 allen bolts - undo them, and the interior will fall off the door - and then you can have a good nose around....
