A quick wheel question ..

Helloo

I'm picking up my first Cerbera on Saturday .. will do a little thread about it all i think !! .. in the meantime i've been looking at some new wheels for it and i wonder if you guys could help , having come from the world of GTR's where there is choice a plenty, with the cerb there only seems to be the two styles other than the standard 16's ..

Am i right in thinking that the PCD pattern is 5x114.3 on a Cerb ? .. offsets are +42 on the front and +35 on the rear ? .. Does anyone know the width of the standard wheels ? .. I'm after something that is extremely light so am thinking of potentially going down the Volk Racing TE37 Forged monoblock wheels ..

I have no idea what you are talking about Sir. But a big welcome to the world of Cerberas! I hope yours give you as much fun as mine does.

For what it's worth - i love the look of my wheels I think they are Racing Lines but I 'fess I am no expert.

Correct offsets are in fact 35 all round. The Spiders used on a lot of Cerbs were made for the Tuscan and that is where the ET42 comes from, that is the offset for Tuscan fronts. It is not ideal however and if sourcing aftermarket wheels then you might as well get it correct. Width was 8" on the 17" rims that were standard on the 4.5's. Spiders are 8.5" all round but this again is not the best width on the front as a 225 tyre is stretched out to fit.

You could make it easy and look at either Silverstone Performance's SP12 or indeed look at ACT's website as they have 3 styles avail and with correct offsets etc and lighter and stronger than the traditional Spider option.

Liking the TE37 idea myself, great wheel, although some may say too Japanese for the Cerb. I was looking at Ultralite W789's as a potential for the Cerb see thread here Which is a bit of a cross between the ricer drift/TE37 and the Spider imho.

Hi,

I was going down this route too, with the lightweight J-spec wheels. The PCD you quote is correct, and the original 16" wheels are 35mm offset. In the end I got a set of wheels from www.rarerims.co.uk designed for a Mitsi Evo fitment. They are 7kgs each and was about £450 for the set of four. Worth a look.

Yes number 131 is correct. £240 each ! Wow !! I paid less than that for a set (OK they did need a refurb).

If you've come from a GTR you'll either hate the Cerb, and sell it within 2 weeks - or if your a real petrol head like all of us, you'll fall in love with it and realise it's the best you've ever had, and it's shortcomings are all part of the attraction.

Every supplier I could find !!! Bought 3 for £110 from a mechanic in Henley who knew the guy who used to own Henley Heritage and bout one for £50 from Ebay. Got them all refurbed for £220 from partex wheels (ie parter ex'd them). So £380 for 4 great spiders in as new condition.

agree the Spider is well over priced/marked up, less than £100 is what I've informed as the trade price for them. You wouldn't mind £200 a corner if it was a quality wheel.

Welcome mate and I have seen a couple of TVRs with Racing Harts so you should be OK.....

i'd like to think i could be classed as a petrol head .. spend alot of time in Japan working as i am involved in a couple of car related companies. Drove GTR's for long periods over there including a monstrous 900hp Top Secret car, over in the UK i've owned (of interest) a couple of Skyline GTST's, one being 470hp, a couple of FD3s RX7's and recently a PS13 Silvia. True i've been heavily involved in the Japanese car scene for many years but i aint as young as i used to be (i used to cringe pulling up anywhere in the Silvia as the rear wing was the size of a small country ) and i've wanted a Cerbera ever since i saw Mr Clarkson review it on Top Gear years ago .. my daily hack is a 118i BM which i despise but the missus likes it.

Picked up the car today .. am pretty speechless to be honest !! will take some pics and start a thread with my thoughts ! ..

Thanks for all the replies to this thread guys, i'm still hunting around but some of the wheels on rarerims are quite nice ... I think i've got it down to either of these 3 wheels, all 3 are forged monoblock. I do really like the spiders but they seem so expensive for what they are, particularly given they have issues ?

CE28s would get my vote anytime Steve, should look fantastic on a Cerb.

I also came from a GTR background and have been very suprised by how much I have enjoyed the switch.
