A week or so ago the speedo decided to work very intermittently, then give up the ghost all together. Now it appears the milometer, odometer have packed in to. And to cap it all, the rev counter,. although working, tends to bounce all over the place when i hit the revs hard.

Is there a quick fix for this? i.e has something come loose behind the dash, or is a new 'module' required (i have had several of those in the past). Or, i recall it was once mentioned that these symptoms might suggest that the big fuse could be on its way out?

The rev counter certainly sounds like big fuse. So change it. The speedo may be a different issue. Did it happen at a 'round' number eg 30,000? Just leave it for a while and it might come back to life? Maybe try reversing for 100 meters?

Yeah the odormeter on mine packed in as it hit 60k miles.
A search suggested that tapping the gauge while travelling at 40 - 50 mph should do the trick.

It worked - although I had to tap it quite hard with the fingers and for about 5 mins constantly. Weird !!

For the mileometer, remove speedo and gently prise open the bevel from the casing. You'll find if it's stuck at ?9,999 it will need help to wind over. You'll be able to wind it on by had once is open and jobs a good one!

The longer you leave this tick at the turn over point the worst it will get at high figure turn over. If this is the case do it tomorrow its well easy.

Thats the funny thing. This time round, it has not stopped at a number such as 27,999. Have also tried the usual tapping it, hitting it, a strong reverse, but this time it does not seem to work at all
