how much 4.5 99 t reg cerbera

hi guys ....

looking for my perfect cerb...what kinda money should one pay for a good 99 cerb..4,5 25000 miles..
love some feedback...

i have seen some 4,5 going for 11k , 12k but i have seen some people asking 15-16k even though they dont seem to be selling at this price


love to know what you experts think

You can buy the best one you can afford, and put £3k away in reserve just in case. Then 12 months later you'll know wether the cheap one was a bargain, or the expensive one was worth the extra monmy - who knows?

ive just bought a 99 4.5 with 54k on the clock for 10,500 but with a known clutch bearing issue and a couple of cosmetic bits needed. So if I spent say 2k to get it sorted mine will stand me in at 12,500, its mechanically sound so thats the main thing. I know that I saw a lot of really ropy cars at this price but there are also some good ones too, some people have really geniune reasons for selling cheaply don't forget.

I would say a really clean 99 4.5 with no real work needed would be around the 15k mark. But i'd always say a mechanically sound car with all the right bits done but maybe with tome visual TLC is a better bet, after all a paintjob can be done anytime and reasonably cheaply where a rebuild iis ££££££

At the end of the day, get whatever you want obviously....

Financially speaking, if you pick one up for say 11k? budget in 3k's worth of work and you'll have a good one... its around 2.5k for a quick engine strip down and build up with new rings and bearings and gaskets I think, and the other 500 on new tyres and a quick service from a non-tvr garage....

but then be prepared for clutch failure, new brake discs, alternator failing, wipers failing, exhausts coming off at speed....

A sorted one at 15k might sound hefty, but all the hassle and work has already been gone and done, and mostly aftermarket work properly done by a good indie, the likes of APM/Austec/TCS even the bias towards a good buy...

Mine was £14,500. I've spent £4,000 putting it right so I'm at £18,500 - This may seem high but I now have a car that sounds fantastic, runs fantastic (blackpool and back from south east essex, some of which as quick and some of the driving was 'creative' or 'spirited' and not a single problem) and she's putting out real top-end BHP figures for a standard one.

Really and I mean this seriously, get a 4.2. They often dyno higher than 4.5s and despite the book figures the performance is more or less exactly the same in a straight line.*

I don't mean to offend the 4.5 owners here but I think there are a lot more 4.5s about because people like to think they have bigger bollox because they have the extra 300cc.*

It's well documented in this forum that the 4.2 feels more wired to your right foot and I'd agree. The 4.5s I've driven since getting my 4.2 feel (and sound) wooley and too smooth.*

*Exception made for the red rose 4.5, which actually lives up to the 4.5 book figures and is a beast.

No, it's because they have similar power and more torque, plus they can be upgraded relatively easily and inexpensively to produce in excess of 400bhp that takes them into a different league of performance.

As standard then the 4.2 does feel more instant in it's power delivery than the 4.5, sound wise the 4.2 is "harsher" sounding than the 4.5 but an exhaust can make a massive difference to the sound on both. My old 4.5 with it's bespoke exhaust sounded different but better (IMO) than any other Cerb I'd been in.

Is that a 4.5RR that has been remapped or that is standard? The best 4.5RR that has been RR'd standard is Nickccc's at 406bhp.

I've seen three 99 4.5's advertised at £11k in the last couple of weeks, and they've all sold on day one.

Book price for A 99 (S) with 40k miles is £15250
