Newbie so please be gentle,Ive convinced the missus that a Cerbera should be our next car but I would need to use it everyday for work which is approx 50ml round trip 5days a week which model will be the most reliable for daily use or am i living in dreamland.

As long as your awatre that the mileage you are talking about means you would need 2 services a year, thats about £1500 if they find nothing else wrong, and remember it will be doing about 15-20mpg. There are people who use them every day, but the great majority don't. It's not the best car to rely on for your everyday transport.

Go for it! They are great cars and make even the most dull journey exciting!
As others have already said just make sure that you allow sufficient funds for servicing/parts etc.
I used mine every day and covered 17,500 miles in 8 x months with no problems other than a few niggles and an alternator belt that snapped and had to be replaced.
I had to sell it in the end as I changed jobs and my annual mileage went up quite dramatically, had it not I would still own the car!

I have a 30 mile each way journey to work and I use the cerbie sometimes. dark evenings and wet conditions etc is hard work

i try and use mine at least 3 days a week .. 15 mile round trip into manchester. You just have to plan your journey carefully as they aren't much fun stuck in a traffic jam.

Use mine everday, city traffic and all. 20km round trip to work. and weekends involve as many long drives on motorways as possible. just do your checks more often. oil etc. A bit cold in winter, and a bit sweaty in summer. If you are used to heated seats and reversing sensors, then the cerb is not for you. trips to supermarkets and DIY centres can be a little frsutraing, mainly cause I hate carrying heavy bags of soil in the back, makes the wheels rub.

Kev whereabouts do you live in Tokyo ? .. i've spent alot of time there and was based in Chiba. Knowing what the traffic is like out there it must be a nightmare in a cerb !!!

I live inKagurazaka, just behind Akasaka Palace - office is in Harajuku, but after navigating the one way systems and getting out of my own street, It's about a 15min drive. Traffic is actually very good in the morning, as Harajuku is very retail, so shops don't open till 11am...no traffic at all on some days. Most people are heading out towards my house, so am going against the flow.
Drop me a line if you ever get ot this way.

BTW, what were you doing in Chiba? Only ever get out that way to go to Costco, Airport or surfing in Tateyama. Oh yeah, and Disneyland.

I use mine every day, 38 miles round trip. Fuel can be expensive however, as you will be talking about 2.5 - 3 gallons a day for 50 miles
