Hi Lee, this CAT D one is the one I had a look at - I'm desperate to get back behind the only wheel in the world worth being behind - but I wouldnt have this one - no history, the guy selling it is a tool - just recipe for disaster.

There's a Green / Tan 4.2 with a private plate (not my cup of tea) on AT @ £11995.

The VRM check shows it as A one owner. But the dealer's sold it once themselves, so I'm guessing thats an error

It's amazing how hot that money can get, when it's burning a hole in your pocket.

I seem to remember arriving at 8AM at work and checking what was on PH and AT every morning.

I remember seeing the advert for mine in a copy of Sprint, and racing down to Seven Oaks for it. Not a bad drive from Brum.

And pulling in to the drive way of a rather nice pad, in my works Transit van

Bit of class Russ! My main problem with Cerb ownership has been that Little Baz number 3 arrived last year and I dont think he'd like it in the "helmet holder"

Yep, well past that, I've got to the point where i remember vaguely that I used to do some work when I got in in the mornings - now its Log on, pistonheads, classifieds, Cerb, bowl of porridge, BREW? yes please, 2 sugars, refresh refresh refresh, shit, autotrader, nope, back to PH, etc etc etc

Every night I get in, "Hi kids, hi Mrs Baz, just had a good insurance quote on a Cerb, saw a nice one today etc etc" I used to have proper conversations about, well just about stuff.

I was going to see this one too yesterday. Spoke with the seller who said it has had a small under-bonnet fire, now repaired, the car also has no history.

I remember seeing it at Automedon recently so - went to see them (TOP BLOKES) to get some info before I went to view the car. All I will say is : I DID NOT go to view the car. It needs a LOT OF WORK.

no history at all though ?? ... what happens when you come to sell it on ? .. no history and its Cat D.

If you think that money is burning a hole in your pocket now - just wait until you've paid but have to wait to pick it up.

Keep looking and get a good one, don't just jump at the first available. Those cheap cars are cheap for a reason.

Cat D should really be a 1/4 to a 1/3rd off I think as general rule of thumb and that assumes all other factors being the same, i.e. still having documented service history etc etc. Without that on top it sounds dodgy, you certainly can't rely on that mileage either (mine shows 21k but it has done 48k because of a documented speedo change which is not uncommon). I was speaking to someone recently about a Cat D Clio172 that also turned out to have no history (was looking for a runaround) and he said, yeah but how many services could it have missed at just 26,000 miles, I went on to mention that without the service history it could be 100,000 miles for all I knew and might have never been serviced ever. Lack of S/H worries me as much as being on the register and both play a factor in the price, at that price it is at the bottom end of normal Cerb territory so doesn't seem a good deal. £7k is closer to the mark but don't underestimate what a dodgy one can cost to sort, £3k can go very quick and if you do spend that or more, then you still have a car that is only worth £7k to the next guy because it is still on the register and still has no history bar the latest service.

The car Byker has just linked to is a goody I think, Extra300Driver's old car if I am right, so a known provenance on here with last 2 owners as Ph'ers.
