Engine Oil

I am after some advice looking to change engine oil in 4.2 Cerb,how much do I need,any advice on doing?

You'll need about 6-7 litres, depending on whether you change the filter too and whether you manage to drain all the old stuff out.

Don't get caught like I did with one 4.5L can!

Cheers Allan, yea going to change filter as well, got 2 five litres ready, any advice, I know you have to drain both drain plugs is that right Allan

No advice other than the usual! Let as much drain out as poss etc. Just be aware when you top it up that its a pig to read the dipstick.

Bung about 6L in with dipstick out, wait half an hour, dip it, top up, wait a few hours before you dip again!

I have this job ahead of me next week.

I can't locate Mobil 1 anywhere locally.

I assume I should be ok with the Shell 5W40 equivalent which is easy to get.

Or does anyone know differently?

The Shell fully synthetic equivalent is fine Ireland, but speak to these guys, they are cheaper than the shops, and will reccomend, and supply, the best oil for the Cerb.

I'm getting mine from Opie. The just had an offer on Silkolene Pro S 10W-50 - £38.69 delivered. it's like putting ribena in your engine.

I've tracked down the Shell one for about €100.00 for a 20ltr container of it from an oil wholesaler we buy other lubricants off.

And it's available in town here so I can just pop in and pick it up.
