How does the centre consol come out?

Can anyone tell me how the centre consol comes out as i have to do a bit of surgery to the gearshift hole. Looks like most of the dash will havto come out, a few pointers on this would save a bit of time!

Do a search through the threads,but i think there are wing nuts located at each end of the T-piece near the air vent passenger side,and same on drivers side.Then remove the helmet holder and there should be another nut there.

Yes, its fairly simple - the centre console is infact 'T' shaped, and is held in place at either end of the 'T' by two bolts per side, easily spotted if you remove the underpanels and have a look up there. Then there is a single self taping screw in the side of the main console. The small section where the speaker normally goes on the early cars is held in place by a screw under the lip of the black plastic rotational air vent in the passenger footwell, and on the drivers side it is simply compressed into place by the larger centre console section that rests on top of it.
